ANTSat officially starts today!

ANTSat – Morphing from sparse everywhere-coverage to dense high-capacity, a FIS2 Starting Grant funded by MUR

On Sept 14, 2026 Martina Mammarella, CNR researcher, has launched the Project AntSat – Morphing from sparse everywhere-coverage to dense high-capacity, a FIS2 Starting Grant, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR).  Hosted at CNR-IEIIT, ANTSat will investigate a new paradigm for future space infrastructures: satellite systems able to autonomously reconfigure not only their formation, but also their physical architecture according to changing mission needs.

The vision behind ANTSat: moving from sparse, distributed configurations providing wide-area coverage to dense, interconnected structures enabling high communication capacity, and back again when required.

A major part of the project will be the creation of the ANTSat Lab, an experimental facility where algorithms, robotic platforms and spacecraft hardware will progressively come together, moving from mathematical ideas toward physical demonstrations.

More soon, including new positions, collaborations, and the first steps of thr ANTSat project. Follow the Project on the web and social media channels:
