Celebrating excellence: A series of prestigious awards for CNR-IEIIT early-career researchers

Two doctoral thesis awards, a Best Poster award, and a Travel Award to four CNR-IEIIT early-career researchers

Four prestigious awards presented to four brilliant young researchers at CNR-IEIIT:

Cesare Donati, a young postdoctoral researcher at CNR-IEIIT, won the Doctoral Award from SIDRA—the Italian Society of Professors and Researchers in Automation—for his doctoral dissertation “Physics-informed identification of nonlinear dynamical systems – A unified framework combining domain knowledge and data-driven sparse modeling,” conducted at CNR-IEIIT. The presentation of the work and the award ceremony took place during a dedicated plenary session on September 4 in Parma at the 20th SIDRA National Conference.

Marta Lenatti, a young researcher at CNR-IEIIT, won the GNB (National Bioengineering Group) Doctoral Award in the “eHealth & clinical engineering” category for her doctoral dissertation “Counterfactual-based Recommendations for the Prevention of High-Prevalence Chronic diseases, conducted at CNR-IEIIT as part of the National Doctoral Program in Artificial Intelligence - Health and Life Sciences Area, coordinated by the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome. The award was presented in Bressanone on September 10, during the GNB’s annual school.

Stefano Moda, a Ph.D. candidate at the Polytechnic University of Turin and an associate researcher at CNR-IEIIT, received the Gaetano Latmiral Award—sponsored by CNIT (National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications) and given for the best scientific work presented as a poster by authors under the age of 35—for his research paper “Sub-THz Contactless Continuous-Wave System for Skin Cancer Detection” at the 26th National Conference on Electromagnetism, held in L’Aquila from September 6 to 9, 2026.

Anna Tommasini, a Ph.D. candidate at the Polytechnic University of Milan and an associate researcher at CNR-IEIIT, received the Alexandre Legros Travel Award for the best poster abstract on the work “Multiphysics modeling of shape- and size-dependent magnetoelectric nanoparticles for controlled drug release,” which earned her the opportunity to attend the BioEM2026 conference, held in Cairns (Australia) from June 21 to 26, 2026.
