On Friday, September 25, CNR-IEIIT will participate in the European Researchers’ Night “Unight”—organized by the Polytechnic University and the University of Turin—as part of the initiatives coordinated by the DeCart group of the CNR’s Turin Territorial Research Area.
This initiative, promoted by the European Commission since 2005, involves thousands of researchers and research institutions across Europe, with the goal of bringing the public closer to science and research in an informal and stimulating setting.
The central theme of the six workshops, organized by a multidisciplinary team, will be “The CNR for a Changing Planet: Let’s Discover It Together.”
Here are the activities organized by the CNR-IEIIT researchers:
Can a Screen Stop a Poem? Experiments on Electromagnetic Field Polarization
with Giuseppe Addamo, Ivan Cibrario Bertolotti
In this activity, we will demonstrate how a simple slotted screen can influence—depending on its orientation—the signal strength received in a Wi-Fi connection. This is related to the vector nature—and in particular to the polarization—of the radiated electromagnetic field.
Bioelectromagnetism: From Research to Health Technologies
with Emma Chiaramello, Geremia Lombardi
Did you know that every thought, movement, and heartbeat is made possible by a complex network of electrical impulses? Researchers will guide you on a journey to discover bioelectromagnetism, the science that studies the interactions between electromagnetic fields and biological systems. Through examples and innovative applications, you’ll discover how this research contributes to the development of new medical technologies, as well as to health monitoring and environmental protection.
